Under the DBT STAR College Scheme, Department of Physics, DAV College Bathinda organized an interdepartmental Webinar on 13th February 2021 to introduce research tools useful for UG science students to enhance their technical and analytical skills. Dr. Gurpreet Singh, head of the Physics department, introduced the resource person, Dr. Rudra Rameshwar of T.I.E.T., Patiala. Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg welcomed and encouraged all the participants. Dr. Rudra started his presentation by introducing many hot areas for future jobs like Business Intelligence, Advanced Analytics, Data Integration, Data Engineering, and Data Science. He described the basic structure of a Research Article and through light on the importance of each section. He further elaborated on many useful academic research tools to speed up the learning skills of students. He demonstrated Google Scholar, Grammarly, DOAJ, Cite Seer X, Web of Science, BioOne, Research Gate, DataElixir, MiniTab, Open Office, Inflibnet, Shoudhganga, OriginPro, Mendely, etc. While answering the participants' queries, he guided that finding a funding agency and appropriate research supervisor. He emphasized that research scholars should use only authentic plagiarism check software like Turnitin, Urkund, etc., and avoid the freely available plagiarism check software as they can copy your research data. Live demonstrations of many of the research tools provided. The webinar arranged using GoogleMeet and YouTube online platforms. Students of UG/ PG classes and faculty members of various institutions have attended the webinar. Total 182 participants joined the webinar. Dr. Kulwinder Singh Mann, in-charge of this webinar, has motivated the students to practice and experiment with the suggested tools to improve their technical skills. The webinar ends with a vote of thanks by Dr. Gurpreet Singh.
